 As an exclusive event, members of the Augusta Virtuosi will deliver a rare performance of Souvenir de Florence, a String Sextet for 2 Violins, 2 Violas, and 2 Cellos composed in 1890 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.  The exciting first movement features a melody with a lovely lyrical quality to it. The Adagio is next, with a rich hymn-like version of the main theme, moving to a lovely melody supported by pizzicato accompaniment. The third movement is bright and carefree and the finale brings a folk-like tune, developing it into a fugato shortly before the brilliant conclusion.
