This concert will feature music from the masters of the Baroque Era. With J. S. Bach’s orchestral Suite No. 2 in B Minor and his Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 in F Major, the concert also includes G. F. Handel’s Concerto Grosso, Opus 6, No. 1 in G Major, and Antonio Vivaldi’s Bassoon Concerto in E Minor with Joy Hoffman as the solo bassoon.
A freelance bassoonist, Joy Hoffman is also a teaching artist. She made her solo debut at the age of seventeen on National Public Radio’s “From the Top.” Graduating summa cum laude in bassoon performance with her B. M. from Florida State, and her M. M. from the University of Maryland, she went on to obtain a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Georgia. Dr. Hoffman performs regularly throughout the southeast, and has played with a variety of symphony orchestras, including the Augusta Symphony and Lyra Vivace Chamber Orchestra. She taught at Newberry College and Pensacola State College, and is now the bassoon instructor at Augusta University, maintaining a private teaching studio from her home in Evans, Ga
