Vivaldi’s well-loved Sacred Vocal Work, Gloria, the orchestra will be joined by the USC Aiken Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Joel Scraper. This important liturgical piece in the Western History of Sacred Music was discovered in the Turin collection in the 1920s. Gloria has remained the most popular of Vivaldi’s vocal works. Arcangelo Corelli’s Christmas Concerto is also featured. This concerto grosso includes a Pastorale which unfolds in flowing phrases, bringing a hushed reverence to the experience as it was “made for the night of Christmas” as Corelli inscribed on the score. This Chamber Series event is for lovers of Sacred and Chamber Music.
