Sofia Malvinni aspires to be a concert violin soloist and studies with Professor Simon James. In chamber music, she has performed the Smetana Piano Trio, and worked with the Telegraph Quartet on the Mendelssohn Piano Trio No. 1 in D Minor, performing the work at Cha Chi Ming Recital Hall in San Francisco.

Sofia will perform Sibelius Violin Concerto in D Minor, Opus 47. An avid performer, Sofia graduated from high school a year early to attend San Francisco Conservatory of Music to pursue her dream of being a violin soloist. She won first place in the San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s violin competition in 2023 and is a junior at the Conservatory.

The program will also feature Beethoven’s Overture to Egmont and Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 “Haffner” in D Major. Aidan Duncan will be the guest conductor for the Beethoven Egmont Overture.

A Senior member of the Academic Leadership Academy at Chapin High School, Aidan Duncan is an aspiring conductor and composer. His achievements include consistent selection to the SCBDA All-State Band and SCMEA All-State Chorus, as well as annual band clinics at the University of South Carolina and the University of Alabama. He has performed with the Chapin High School Symphonic Band, the Chapin High School Pride of the Midlands Marching Band, the Chapin High School Chamber Choir, and the South Carolina Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. He plans to earn a college degree and pursue a professional career as a musician.
